privacy policy

the short version

we collect your info to run events and keep you in the loop. we don't sell your data. we do use facebook (meta) and google tools for ads and analytics, which share some of your site activity to help us reach people who might like our events. we don't spam you, and you can limit the ad tracking anytime.

what we collect

when you sign up or rsvp:

• first and last name
• email address
• phone number (if you provide it)

when you create an account:

• phone number (used for login via one-time verification code)
• first and last name
• email address
• points balance and earning history
• email verification status

when you attend events:

• which events you've attended
• check-in status and timestamps
• any preferences or dietary restrictions you share with us

when you visit our website:

• analytics and screen recordings of your visits: pages you visit, what you click, your device type, and your ip address, which is used to estimate your general location. if you're signed in, this can be linked to your account
• we use cookies to keep the site running smoothly

how we use it

• to send you event confirmations and reminders
• to send our newsletter (only if you opt in)
• to improve our events based on what people actually like
• to contact you if something changes with an event you're attending
• to authenticate your account via one-time verification codes sent to your phone
• to track and display your points balance and event history
• to process rewards redemption

what we don't do

• sell your data
• send you emails you didn't sign up for
• keep your data longer than we need to

third-party services

we use a few service providers to make things work:

• payments - to process ticket purchases securely
• email and text messaging - to send confirmations, reminders and our newsletter
• hosting and database - to run our website and app, and to sign you in
• analytics and error tracking - to understand how people use our website and app, and to find and fix bugs
• advertising - google and meta tools on our website, described below

we only share what's necessary for them to do their job.

advertising and analytics

we use meta pixel and google analytics to understand how people find us and to show our events to people who might like them. to do that, these tools collect information about your activity on our site (like pages you visit and actions you take, including ticket purchases) and share it with meta and google, who may use it to show you relevant ads on their platforms and other sites.

if you'd rather not have this activity used for ad targeting, you can:

• adjust ad personalization in your meta and google account settings
• use your browser's privacy and cookie controls
• email us at info@letsdofunthings.org and we'll help

our mobile app

the ldft app uses an analytics and error tracking provider so we can see how the app gets used and fix what's broken. it collects:

• the screens you visit and actions you take (never what your messages say)
• device and app info, and your ip address, which is used to estimate your general location
• crash and error reports
• screen recordings, with sensitive content like your messages and what you type hidden

if you're signed in, this is linked to your account. we don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites. the app has no advertising tools in it: the google and meta tools described above run on our website only. the app also talks to our own servers to sign you in and run features, and sends push notifications if you turn them on.

your choices

unsubscribe anytime- every email has an unsubscribe link. one click and you're out.

request your data - want to know what we have on you? just ask.

delete your account - you can delete it anytime from the app or on the web at letsdofunthings.org/delete-account. see “deleting your account” below for what happens to your data.

you can delete your account anytime from the app, or on the web at letsdofunthings.org/delete-account. you can also email us at info@letsdofunthings.org and we'll do it for you.

when you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile and personal information from the service and you can no longer sign in. messages you posted stay visible to other members but show as coming from a deleted user. analytics events, crash reports, and screen recordings linked to your account are also queued for deletion with our analytics provider. that provider processes the request in the background, so it may not finish immediately.

we retain a limited, access-restricted record for legal, financial, and safety purposes: the account's basic identity (name, email, phone) and de-identified transaction records. we keep this only as long as necessary to meet legal and accounting obligations and to respond to lawful requests, and we don't use it to contact you or for anything else.

if you had account credit left, we keep the balance rather than erase it, and unlike the records above it stays linked to the deleted account so we can identify it as yours. a deleted account can't sign in to spend it, so use it before you delete, or email us if you already have.

account deletion is permanent. if you later sign up again with the same email or phone number, a new and separate account is created, and any account credit stays on the old one until we move it for you.

payment information

payments are handled by our payment processor. your card details go directly to them and never touch our servers. we only receive a confirmation that your payment was successful, along with a transaction reference.

sms messages

if you opt in to sms reminders:

• we'll only text you about events you're attending
• messages come from (309) 301-1662
• you can reply STOP anytime to opt out
• standard message and data rates apply

photos at events

we sometimes take photos at events for social media and our website. if you'd rather not be photographed, just let the host know. if you see a photo of yourself you want removed, email us and we'll take it down.

data security

we use industry-standard security practices to protect your information. but no system is 100% secure, so we can't make guarantees.

children

our events are for adults (18+). we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

changes to this policy

if we make significant changes, we'll let you know via email or on our website.
